Week of 20th April

Hello there Year 5!

We hope you managed to enjoy a lovely Easter break.

Below you will see a star for each day this week. We will put up a maths lesson and an English lesson for you daily, so check back each day for the new activity. Each day there will also be a piece of ‘topic’ work (eg. Geography, Science, Art, PSHE…)

As well as this, remember to get some exercise too (you could create your own circuits course, dance routine, go for a walk, ride your scooter/bike or do the Joe Wicks PE lessons at 9am whatever you prefer and works well for you.) Remember to keep reading and recording in your planners everyday! This could be a book you have at home, or you could listen to the David Walliams books at 11am each day on his website or use Audible for some of the free audiobooks. Lastly, don’t forget to practise your times tables – Times Table Rock Stars is a great app!

We're beginning our new topic, and it's my favourite one, Who Were the Vikings?

We'd like you to start thinking about how we are like them, how we have evolved from that time, and what skills we gained from them?

A recent survey showed that most British people have the DNA of .. can you guess..?

The Danes!  Have a look at the activities and we hope you enjoy them.  Perhaps you'd like to blog us and tell us what activities should spin off from what we introduce?  Just like we do in class!

I've put up the longboat lesson twice to make sure that you have a go.  Design it first then thing of how you might build one.

We all miss you very much, and year 5 team are always in contact with each other talking about.. you!

Keep up the hard work and we look forward to seeing you again soon in the not so distant future.  Have a look at the Reading Recommendations, too!

Best wishes,

Mrs Caddick-Adams, Mrs Ottaway, Mr Saunders.
