A warm welcome to our new Year 3 children and parents
We know transition can be a worrying time for children and families and we want to support the transition of your child to the junior school as much as possible. In the current lockdown we are unable to offer our normal transition events but please be reassured we will continue to work hard to get the information and support to you for a successful transition.
The transition from KS1 to KS2 is a significant step for children. In addition to the physical move from infant to junior school, there will be different expectations, new routines, and new skills and experiences.
At KS2 learning may also ‘look’ and ‘feel’ different. Furthermore, we are very aware that a number of pupils have not been into school for several months, due to the Covid-19 school closures, and these children may not have even had the formal or more traditional farewell from their infant school we would have usually expected. Whilst this may have its challenges, our Year 3 team are here to ensure the transition is made as smoothly as possible but a helping hand at home can make the transition much easier for your child.
A smooth home to school transition is important because evidence shows a link between poor transitions and less successful outcomes and this may lead to subsequent poor attendance and disengagement. We want to work closely with you to support your child on the next stage of their educational journey.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be adding information below to support the transition process.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to the school in September.
